734. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the minister representing the
Minister for Aboriginal Affairs:
I refer to the heritage assessment
of lodged Aboriginal heritage ID 38516, Dalyup River, by the Department of
Planning, Lands and Heritage.
(1) How many
affected landowners were contacted by the DPLH and informed of their
opportunity to make a submission to the Aboriginal Cultural Material Committee in
respect of the heritage assessment?
(2) How many
affected landowners were contacted by the DPLH to inform them that the
submission deadline had been extended from 24 July 2020 to 28 August 2020?
(3) Other than a map
showing the location of the proposed heritage site, what information is
provided by the DPLH to affected landowners to ensure that they are in a position
to provide a submission in accordance with section 5 and section 39(2) of the
Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972?
(4) Is the minister satisfied that the extended
submission period is adequate for affected landowners to provide a response,
particularly with regard to the matters set out in the act?

the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs.
(1) The
Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage wrote to 41 landowners whose
properties intersect the Dalyup River.
(2) Six individuals responded and
were advised of the extension.
(3) The
department does not provide any additional information. The landowners are
being given the opportunity to provide any
comments they feel necessary to bring to the attention of the Aboriginal
Cultural Material Committee.
