In the Egis Consulting report of 1998-1999, Ascot Waters Post-Construction Phase, Performance and Compliance, page 3 notes that the DEP will decide whether additional reports should be produced -
(1) If further water monitoring reports were prepared will the Minister table them?
(2) If no further monitoring reports were done why not given that the 1998-1999 report identified water quality exceedences of nitrogen and phosphorous?
(3) The Egis Consulting Report notes a proponent commitment to ‘prepare and implement a contingency plan in the event of decline in waterway quality’. Given that the report identifies numerous water quality exceedences, was a contingency plan completed?
(4) If a contingency plan was completed will the Minister table the plan?

(1) The report referred to in the question addresses the Belmont landfill site and is not part of the Ascot Waters development. No condition has been placed to continue monitoring the landfill other than the 2 years monitoring provided by Ascot Waters Consortium. (2) Based on the two years monitoring data, the elevated nitrogen concentration indicates that the tip is still active. The level of contamination is consistent with the other Municipal landfills on the Swan Coastal Plain, however, monitoring results from the internal waterway and the river have not detected elevated nutrient concentration.. (3) The contingency plan refers to the Ascot Waters development internal waterway monitoring and not the landfill site and the adjacent channel. (4) Not applicable.
