I refer to David Hunt’s involvement in the merger between Synergy and Verve, and his recent appointment to the Board of Synergy, and ask: (a) what precisely was Mr Hunt’s involvement in the merger, including during the project initiation stages; (b) how did Mr Hunt come to be involved in the merger; and (c) what consideration was given to managing any potential conflict of interest arising out of Mr Hunt’ involvement with the merger prior to his appointment on the Board of Synergy?

(a) Mr Hunt was a member of the Merger Implementation Group, which was the steering committee appointed to effect the merger.
(b) Mr Hunt was engaged as a consultant to the Public Utilities Office within the Department of Finance.
(c) It is not considered that there will be a conflict of interest or potential conflict of interest arising from Mr Hunt's involvement with the merger.
