NATIONAL PARKS —
VISITOR SAFETY
922. Mr R.S. LOVE to the Minister for Tourism:
I have a supplementary question. I bear
in mind that the minister is representing another minister, so I will not ask
for detail, but does the minister consider that the department should be asked
to re-examine its risk management processes in light of recent events?

I am absolutely certain that the
department has reassessed its processes for mitigating risk in light of this
and other incidents over recent years. It is a constant practice to ensure that
any risks of this nature are mitigated to the best possible degree. That is the
responsibility of the agency, and I am sure it is conducting an analysis of
what occurred. Because there has been a death, it will be subject to other
investigations and inquiries and I am sure that advice will be provided
following those inquiries, and that the DBCA and minister will respond.
