I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) The energy smart government policy requires participating agencies to achieve energy reduction targets. Energy consumption baselines for participating agencies based on 2001-02 energy consumption data have been set. Although the policy did not require participating agencies to establish greenhouse gas emission baselines or to meet greenhouse gas reduction targets, agencies will report on their levels of energy-related greenhouse gas emissions. (2) In accordance with the energy smart government program, participating agencies have until 31 August to submit their 2002-03 energy data to the Sustainable Energy Development Office. The Sustainable Energy Development Office will then commence an audit of the performance of agencies under the Government’s energy smart program. (3) Not applicable.
