(a) Not applicable. The Department of Housing and Works has been designated as the Department of Housing to take effect 1 February 2009.

(a) Yes.
(i) The Department of Commerce commenced on 1 January 2009.
This Department will consist of the previous Department of Consumer and Employment Protection, except for the Resources Safety Division which has been transferred to the Department of Mines and Petroleum, and the previous Department of Industry and Resources divisions of Science and Enterprise, Innovative Industries and Aboriginal Economic Development.
(ii) - (iii) Budget allocations and FTE numbers are currently being finalised.
(b) Not applicable.

(a - b[iii]) The Economic Audit Committee is conducting a comprehensive review of the operational and financial performance of the Western Australian public sector. This includes the overall structure of the public sector. Machinery of government issues, including the creation or closing of government agencies and departments, will be addressed as part of the Economic Audit Committee's final report, which is due to be delivered in
September 2009.
