The burn will be carried out in a strip south of Tims Thicket Road, crossing over White Hill Road including a block to the west of Bouvard Drive. The planned burning will be carried out in accordance with a detailed prescription outlining the required conditions, including weather, fuel moisture and smoke trajectory. The burn is likely to be carried out in late September or early October 2003. Understanding the role of fire regimes in the health of tuart woodlands will be examined through a series of experimental fires. The location and timing of these research burns are currently being developed.

(a) The last prescribed burn to be conducted in the Yalgorup National Park was in spring 2000. This was a buffer strip along Preston Beach Road. This buffer has been maintained on a 3-4 year rotation and is due to be burnt again in spring 2004.
