I refer to the following offences under the Western Australian Criminal Code, 1. sexual penetration of a child, indecent dealings with a child; or any other sexual offence involving a child under the relevant statutory age 2. possession of child exploitation material and 3. conspiracy to commit any of the above offences, and I ask, for each of the calendar years between 2020 and 2024, and for each offence separately:(a) what was the total number of individuals convicted;(b) of those convicted in (a), how many were sentenced to terms of imprisonment, broken down by sentence length:(i) less than 1 year;(ii) 1 year to less than 3 years;(iii) 3 years to less than 5 years;(iv) 5 years to less than 10 years; and(v) 10 years or more; and(c) for those sentenced to imprisonment, how many were released on parole prior to the completion of their sentence?

1) b) (i) –(v) The totality of imprisonment or detention terms imposed on an individual for each offence cannot be provided as person may be sentenced for multiple charges across different offence types.

3)  a) – c) This information is unable to be extracted from the Courts’ case management system as section 558 of the Criminal Code Compilation Act 1913 (Conspiracy to commit indictable offence) is a general offence and is not broken down by conspiracy to commit specific offences.
