(1) Yes.
The new Midland Public Hospital operated by St John of God Health Care will provide a range of outpatient services to the public.
In the first period of operation, being the seven months to 30 June 2016, the following approximate numbers of Type 1 (State funded) public patient outpatient occasions of service will be delivered:
·
14,310 medical and multidisciplinary led outpatient services;
·
31,656 allied health led outpatient services; and
·
13,312 nursing led outpatient services.
Type 1 (State Funded) outpatient services at the new Midland Public Hospital include:
·
General Medicine;
·
Aged Care Medicine, as well as Aged Care day therapy including osteoporosis/fragile bone clinic, memory clinic, Aged Care Assessment Team, continence clinic, clinical psychology (cognitive assessment) and falls clinic;
·
Orthopaedic/Fracture Clinic, including paediatric orthopaedics and minor trauma;
·
General surgery;
·
Obstetrics and Gynaecology;
·
Anaesthetics (such as pre-admission Anaesthetic assessment);
·
Paediatrics;
·
Haematology; and
·
Oncology.
·
Audiology;
·
Dietetics/nutrition;
·
Occupational therapy;
·
Physiotherapy;
·
Podiatry;
·
Social work;
·
Speech pathology;
·
Stomal care;
·
Wound management;
·
Diabetes care; and
·
Antenatal (midwife led) care.
A range of Type 2 outpatient services (funded via utilisation of the Commonwealth Medicare Benefits Schedule) are also, under the Services Agreement, required to be provided to the public through specialists' own rooms, and these should reflect the inpatient casemix of the public patient facility.
These include (subject to the State determined inpatient casemix of the Midland Public Hospital):

Cardiology;

Dermatology;
·
Endocrinology;
·
ENT Surgery;
·
Gastroenterology;
·
General Surgery;
·
Gynaecology;
·
Haematology;
·
Immunology;
·
Medical Oncology;
·
Neurology;

Ophthalmology;
·
Orthopaedics;
·
Pain Management;
·
Plastic Surgery;
·
Radiation Oncology;
·
Renal Medicine;
·
Urology; and
·
Vascular Surgery.

It is a matter for St John of God Health Care to determine what services it provides to private patients.
(3) Yes, there are services/facilities for treatment of patients with cancer. The Chemotherapy Unit in the Midland Public Hospital has eleven chairs for cancer and haematology treatment (chemotherapy and related intravenous therapy).
In addition, public medical oncology and haematology patients may be admitted if required to any of the beds of the 60 bed public medical ward.
Post-surgical public cancer patients may be admitted to any of the beds of the 20 bed public surgical ward.
Private medical oncology patients and private post-surgical cancer patients may be admitted to the 60 bed private ward area of the Midland Private Hospital
