My meeting with Rachael Turnseck was on Monday, 24 February,
and she came across to tell me of Troy's health condition—that
he would be absent from cabinet perhaps a little longer—so my
expectation was that he would not be away for particularly long at that stage.
She spoke to me about his health, what was likely to happen and that he was
under medical care. That is what we discussed. I was obviously very concerned
about his welfare—Troy is not only a colleague but also a good friend—as
everyone would be, I think. There was no mention at all about damage to a
vehicle, and the first I heard anything of damage to a vehicle was the phone
call from my staff member at two o'clock on Sunday. I think the
Minister for Police heard about the same time and, indeed, the police
commissioner himself I think on television last night said that the first he
knew of it was around midday on Sunday.
