The Office of Multicultural Interests advise as follows: (1) The model integrates proposals from the Health Department and Department of Education and Training for an integrated system of services in one location already accessed by humanitarian entrants to ensure greater accessibility and utilisation of services. The model promotes partnerships and links with other agencies and service providers involved in the settlement of humanitarian entrants in working towards a coordinated approach to service delivery. (2) The pilot project has funding for 12 months. (3) The pilot project is intended to provide a centralised and holistic program offering a number of specialist and culturally appropriate services that will be better able to respond to the complex needs of humanitarian entrants. The pilot will be evaluated for its effectiveness and long term feasibility.
