In view of the often-expressed position of the Australian Labor Party when in opposition that the gag motion, or guillotine motion, would not be used by the Labor Government in the Legislative Council, will the Leader of the House give an absolute and unequivocal assurance that he will not use the gag motion, or the guillotine motion, and therefore abide by the Labor Party’s position, which it held in opposition?
