I ask a supplementary question. Will the minister provide details of how the $420 million figure in the budget was compiled and give details of the services the minister proposes to leave out of the construction stage to achieve that reduction in costs? Mr J.A. McGINTY
AnswerView source ↗
I am happy for the Department of Health to provide the basis for its calculation of the $420 million, which was the recommended figure for stage 1 of the Fiona Stanley hospital. The answer to the second part of the question is the final part of the answer to the first question; that is, we need to complete those investigations regarding where those different services will be provided, continue the discussions with St John of God Health Care and also finalise the clinical services plan of which the Fiona Stanley hospital is arguably the centrepiece. That will be done by July or perhaps very early August. Once those things are done, I will be able to provide a very comprehensive statement of what will be included in stage 1 and what will be provided for elsewhere.
