SWAN VALLEY PLANNING BILL
2020 — CONSULTATION PERIOD
1229. Hon COLIN TINCKNELL to the minister representing the
Minister for Planning:
I refer to the Swan Valley Planning
Bill 2020 consultation period. Why is the government allowing for a public
consultation period of only 30 days instead of the standard 90-day public
consultation period?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
The draft Swan Valley Planning
Scheme is to be created through the Swan Valley Planning Bill 2020, which does
not have a minimum requirement for public consultation of the first scheme—clause
43. Therefore, the 90-day consultation period required by the Planning and
Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015 does not apply. The
intention is that the scheme will become active as soon as possible after the
enactment of the bill.
