(a) The Redress WA Scheme was announced by the Government on
17 December 2007, accompanied by a comprehensive communications strategy.  Applications opened on 1 May 2008.
(b) Officers of the former Department for Communities prepared two internal reports: one on the overall outcomes of the Scheme, and one on its operational effectiveness.  Both reports have been used to inform the Government's response to the current Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
