On behalf of Hon Robyn McSweeney, who has been called away on urgent parliamentary business, I refer to rescue trailers and ask - (1) Is the Fire and Emergency Services Authority of WA asking town fire brigades that have raised their own money to buy rescue trailers housing the jaws of life and other essential rescue equipment to now return those trailers to Perth? (2) If so, why? Hon KIM CHANCE

I thank Hon Bruce Donaldson for asking this question on behalf of Hon Robyn McSweeney. (1)-(2) The Fire and Emergency Services Authority advises that Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service brigades may be asked to return trailers to Perth. FESA further advises that it no longer supplies trailers to FESA VFRS brigades as it has designed a range of better configured, more flexible and safer vehicles that are capable of carrying the rescue equipment previously carried in trailers. I have been assured that the rescue capability of FESA VFRS brigades will not be reduced, nor will the equipment that supports their role be removed. Further, brigades are no longer asked to contribute funding to essential rescue and firefighting equipment.
