Minister for Environment:
1 refer to the recent episode of Flashpoint ,
which aired on 17 September 2023, in which the minister stated —
� we
have 18 councils across Perth and Peel that have signed up and doing it
already. We have got another 11 who say that they are going to move to
FOGO and a further five who say that it's likely. So that means 34
councils across Perth and Peel are either doing FOGO or on the way to doing it.
Will the minister please provide a list
of —
(a) the 18
councils within the Perth and Peel regions that have implemented the food
organics and garden organics system;
(b) the 11 councils within the Perth and Peel regions
that are moving towards implementing the FOGO system ; and
(c) the five councils within the
Perth and Peel regions that are likely?

of the question. On behalf of the Minister for Environment, I provide the
following answer.
(a) There are 18
councils in Western Australia that have implemented the food organics and
garden organics system. Ten are in Perth and Peel and eight are regional
councils. They are the City of Albany, City of Bayswater, City of Bunbury, the fine City of Fremantle, City of
Melville, City of Vincent, Shire of Augusta– Margaret River, Shire of Capel, Shire of Collie,
Shire of Dardanup, Shire of Donnybrook–Balingup, Shire of
Harvey, Town of Bassendean, Town of Cottesloe, Town of East Fremantle, City of
Nedlands, City of Subiaco and Town of Mosman Park.
(b) There are 12
local governments now committed to FOGO in Western Australia. Three of the
local governments have not publicly announced their commitment. The remaining
nine listed are committed through funding
agreements with the Waste Authority: City of Belmont, City of Kalamunda, City
of S wan, Shire of Serpentine
Jarrahdale, Shire of Mundaring, Town of Claremont, Shire of Peppermint Grove,
City of Wanneroo and Shire of Esperance.

councils likely to implement FOGO are: City of Joondalup, City of Cockburn,
City of Perth, City of Rockingham and City of Stirling.
