I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) The Western Australia draft human rights bill 2007 has been proposed by the state government. Mr Fred Chaney has been retained to chair an independent consultation committee of four with the task of seeking views from the Western Australian community on how best to protect and promote human rights in this state. (2) As chair of the consultation committee, Mr Chaney is being paid $1 350 per day, pro rata for part days.
