ASIAN HONEY BEE
I refer to the possible incursion of the Asian honey bee, Apis cerana , into WA and the attempts nationally to eradicate existing incursions. (1) Does the minister recognise the very significant threat to apiarists, agricultural production more generally, and WA’s biodiversity, posed by the introduction of the Asian honey bee into Australia and potentially into WA? (2) Has a final decision been made by the Asian Honeybee National Management Group as to what strategy and funding will be employed nationally? (3) Does the minister support national funding for the eradication of the Asian honey bee? (4) Is another meeting of the Asian Honeybee National Management Group imminent? (5) Will the minister ensure that this is a face-to-face meeting to maximise the chance of a fully-informed meeting? Hon ROBYN McSWEENEY
