MAIN ROADS — CAPITAL WORKS BUDGET 631. Hon SIMON O’BRIEN to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure: In the spirit of optimism, if not hope, I refer to the estimated total cost of capital works for Main Roads WA as displayed at pages 737 and 738 of the Budget Statements of $6.731 billion. Noting that the individual works listed total $6.280 billion, I ask— (1) What is the reason for the total exceeding the reality by $451 million? (2) Is it the case that $451 million worth of projects were initially scheduled to commence in the 2008-09 financial year but now will not? (3) What are the individual projects giving rise to this discrepancy and the approximate value of each project? Hon ADELE FARINA
