SCHOOL CANTEENS — DIETARY GUIDELINES
228. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Education:
I
refer to recent changes to the Student health in public schools procedures and the WA school food and drink criteria.
(1) When does the Department of Education and school
principals expect school canteens to comply with the changes?
(2) Is the
minister aware that appendix B requires that a principal, and I quote —
Only gives permission to use a school's
premises as a canteen/food service on the basis that the Student Health in
Public Schools policy and procedures are implemented.
(3) Will the
policy and procedures apply to catering procured by the school, whether
supplied by the school canteen or not in relation to graduation ceremonies,
volunteer thankyou events, staff professional development days and similar
school events?
(4) Noting that
appendix B exempts P&C fundraising events from the policy and procedures,
are student council fundraising events similarly exempted?
