CLOSED-CIRCUIT TELEVISION STRATEGY
445. Hon AMBER-JADE SANDERSON to the Attorney General representing the Minister for Police:
I refer to page 14 of the state government's draft
2015 ''Western Australian State CCTV Strategy'', which states
that a funding pool will be provided towards a crime prevention infrastructure
fund and that grants made under the fund will prioritise high crime areas.
(1) What
amount of money, if any, has been set aside for this funding pool in the
financial years 2014–15, 2015–16 and 2016–17?
(2) Are there criteria by which a high crime area is
determined?
(3) Can the minister provide some examples of what might be
considered a high crime area?
(4) If yes to (2) —
(a) who will be responsible for
assessing the applications; and
(b) will the minister provide the
criteria; and, if not, why not?

On behalf of the Minister for Police, I thank the honourable
member for some notice of this question.
(1) The amount
in 2014–15 is $1 million; in 2015–16, $2 million; and in 2016–17,
$2 million.
(2)–(4)
The draft state CCTV strategy was released on 26 March 2015 for a three-month
public comment period. Once the consultation process has been completed and
submissions reviewed, a series of criteria, guidelines and procedures governing
the strategy's operation will be developed and published.
