Advice and Recommendations
14 September 2021
DFES advised the Department of Justice (DoJ) to develop a comprehensive land management plan to address bushfire mitigation at the Casuarina Prison site.
DFES recommended the DoJ engage with the City of Kwinana to consult on required works and to ensure agreed mitigation treatments were appropriately recorded in the DFES Bushfire Risk Mitigation System.

DFES advised it would support DoJ to undertake bushfire risk treatments on its tenures across Western Australia, including Casuarina Prison.

DFES advised DoJ to undertake mechanical and chemical treatments to maintain existing firebreaks within the Casuarina Prison site.
29 December 2025
DFES provided DoJ recommended bushfire mitigation treatments for Bushfire Risk Management Plans for 2025, 2026, and 2027.
