Further to my question without notice 10 asked on Wednesday 30 March, 2005 - (1) What is the total capacity - that is, the number of beds - at Fremantle Kaleeya Hospital? (2) Is the government running or intending to run Fremantle Kaleeya Hospital as a hybrid public-private hospital; and, if so, how many beds will be allocated to public and private patients respectively? I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) There are 96 beds, of which only some are staffed to match occupancy. (2) Members of the community have the right to elect to be admitted as public or private patients in public hospitals including Fremantle Kaleeya Hospital. Priority will be given to the need for beds for public patients, but up to 20 beds are likely to be available for private patients, subject to public bed demand. (3) Average occupancy - overnight, 13.3. Average occupancy - same-day cases, 16.
