NATIONAL PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT ON PUBLIC DENTAL
WAITING LISTS
826. Hon ED DERMER to the minister representing the Minister
for Health:
Some notice of the question has been given. I refer to the
Minister for Health's answer to question without notice 799 on
Wednesday, 17 October, through which the house was advised that with respect to
outstanding issues pertaining to discussions between the Department of Health
and the commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing regarding the proposed
national partnership agreement on public dental waiting lists —
Issues under discussion between
the state and the commonwealth include funding shares
What specific issues pertaining to funding shares are yet to
be resolved?

I thank the member for some notice of the question.
The commonwealth has offered Western Australia 8.4 per cent
of the nationally available funding. This is less than the state's
population share; instead, it is based on WA's percentage of
commonwealth Health Care and Pensioner Concession Card holders. The state is
continuing to argue that the commonwealth should provide a higher proportion of
total funding available to WA than just a percentage based on our number of
cardholders.
