SURVEY CHARTER VESSELS, LICENCES
What licences or approvals are required by a survey charter vessel that operates tourism-related services along the Western Australian coastline, whereby customers are picked up and dropped off on the shoreline, from - (a) the Department of Transport; (b) the relevant local authority; and (c) any other government agency or statutory authority? I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question, and advise that I will answer this question of behalf of the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure. (a)-(c) A valid certificate of survey appropriate for the intended operation and area must be obtained from the Department for Planning and Infrastructure. Any jetty used for passenger transfers must be licensed under the Jetties Act 1926. Approvals from other regulatory bodies, such as the Department of Conservation and Land Management and the Department of Fisheries, may be required. However, such requirements would be entirely dependent upon the nature of the operation that will be undertaken.
