Local Government Association, commonly known as WALGA, which was established

corporate under section 9.58 of the Local Government Act 1995. Although the act
provided for the establishment of WALGA, it was established as a body
corporate, not a government department or agency. As such, no government body
has responsibility to undertake financial or disclosure audits of the
association or its business units. WALGA must comply with its constitution and
is accountable to its member local governments.
