773. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the minister representing the
Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to the answer to my
question without notice 698 from 12 June 2024.
(1) Have the two children reported
as unaccounted for—in contact been found?
(2) For how many
days were the whereabouts of the children unknown?
(3) How many
children who are in the care of the CEO have their whereabouts currently
recorded as —
(a) unaccounted for—in
contact;
(b) unaccounted
for—not in contact; and
(c) missing?
(4) In this
calendar year, how many times has the department reported a child to Western Australia
Police Force as a missing person?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following response has been provided by the
Minister for Child Protection. The Department of Communities advises the
following as at 18 June 2024.
(1) The young people remain
unaccounted for—in contact.
(2) The two young people have been
recorded as ''unaccounted for—in contact'' for 14 and 57
days.
(3) (a) There are four;
(b) there are two; and
(c) there is one.
(4) From 1 January
to 17 June 2024, Communities completed 28 referrals to WA Police Force on
occasions whereby a child was recorded as missing.
