I refer to questions on notice 28 and 332 of 2001 in the Legislative Assembly and question without notice 306 answered yesterday in this House. I refer to the Premier’s refusal to inform the House of the details of Mr Thorn’s employment because that information has been supplied to the Government. (1) Was Mr Thorn employed by the Metropolitan Perth Area Consultative Committee, MPACC, at any time between when he commenced work for Hon Clive Brown on a so-called voluntary basis and when he was employed in Hon Clive Brown’s office? (2) If so, for what period was he so employed? (3) Would the Premier agree that it would be inappropriate for Mr Thorn to be working in Hon Clive Brown’ office while being paid to perform a different job by another body? (4) Is the inappropriateness of this action being investigated by the Corruption and Crime Commission? (5) Is this inappropriateness or the investigation by the CCC the reason for refusing to reveal details of his other employment; if not, what is the reason for suppressing this information about a public servant? (6) Will the Premier stand Mr Thorn down from heading the Office of Crime Prevention if and while he is being investigated by the Crime and Corruption Commission? The PRESIDENT: The Leader of the House would be aware that part of that question was out of order; I refer to the hypothetical part. The other parts are in order. Hon KIM CHANCE

Thank you, Mr President. I thank Hon Peter Foss for some notice of the question. I am aware of the question; indeed, I have a copy in my hand. The answer has not come through yet. If it comes through during question time, I will provide it.
