I refer to Lottery West’s internet sales and ask: (a) have there been any inquiries, consultations, or studies undertaken into the success of internet sales; (b) have there been any inquiries, consultations, or studies undertaken into the impacts of internet sales on consumer purchasing patterns; (c) have there been any inquiries, consultations, or studies undertaken into the impacts of internet sales retailers; and (d) is the impact of internet sales on consumer behaviour being studied or monitored, and if so, by whom?

(a) Yes. Lotterywest carefully studied over a number of years the introduction of online sales by the lottery industry in different parts of the world.
(b) Yes. Lotterywest studies such data and is able to monitor consumer use of the Play Online channel.
(c) Yes. Lotterywest has monitored sales performance and the evidence suggests that Play Online has attracted a new a slightly younger market and that this channel has had minimal if any impact on the retail network.
(d) Yes. Lotterywest regularly analyses the performance of its retail network and the use by consumers of the online channel using the data readily available from the Lotterywest gaming system. Lotterywest constantly monitors information available through various business and  Lottery industry sources on how consumers are using retail and online channels for not only lottery products but other forms of purchases.
