847. Mr McGOWAN to the Minister representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to Westrail's locomotive drivers and ask -
(a) will the Government allow Westrail's locomotive drivers to go back to the former award under which they were employed;
(b) why did the Government make locomotive drivers transfer to Workplace Agreements;
(c) did the Government convert all drivers appointed on the Enterprise Bargaining Agreement back to Drivers Assistants;
(d) will the appointment of Drivers back to Drivers Assistants mean that they are required to do country service again;
(e) did the Drivers avoid country service again by signing a Workplace Agreement;
(f) will the Drivers allow all Drivers under Workplace Agreements to go back to the award;
(g) has the Commissioner for Workplace Agreements investigated this matter to see whether or not there has been a breach of the
Workplace Agreements Act 1993
; and
(h) why did the Government implement this approach to employee's rights?
