I have a supplementary question. Do all Western Australians have the right to telephone the Deputy Commissioner of Police personally about any traffic infringement matter that may affect them? Dr G.I. GALLOP

As I say to citizens who visit me in my electorate office on these issues or raise a matter in public, they have the right to obtain an appropriate response from the appropriate level of the Police Service to any complaint they make. The question is whether the level of response is appropriate to the complaint that is made. People often raise these matters with members of Parliament. The Police Service has to respond at the level that is appropriate to the complaint that is made.
