KIARA
396. Hon
AMBER-JADE SANDERSON to the Minister for Disability Services:
(1) Has the City
of Swan indicated to the government that it supports the location of both or
either of the disability justice centres in Lockridge and Kiara?
(2) If yes, when
was that support indicated and who gave that support on behalf of the city?

I thank the member for some notice
of this question.
(1) I have been
advised that the City of Swan provided in-principle support for the disability
justice centres to the Department of Planning.
(2) On 23 May
2013, the chief executive officer of the City of Swan and the executive
manager, planning and development, advised a representative of the Department
of Planning that the city was generally supportive of a facility in the region.
At a meeting held at the City of Swan council offices on 10 July 2013, the
director general of the Disability Services Commission received some stated
support from council members for the location at 130 Lord Street, Caversham.
This is a site from which the Disability Services Commission has provided
accommodation services for over 30 years. At the same meeting there was no
stated support for the site at Kiara.
