PERTH MAJOR SPORTS STADIUM — TOTAL
COST
433. Mr M. McGOWAN to the Minister for Sport and Recreation:
I have a supplementary question.
Several members interjected.
Mr M. McGOWAN : He
is very tricky.
Is the minister denying that he has received a report from WT
Partnership, quantity surveyors, suggesting the cost of the stadium will be
$900 million?

No —
Mr M. McGowan : Was
that a no?
Mr T.K. WALDRON :
We have had reports. I will just make this clear. We have gone through a really
thorough planning process. In fact, Populous has made the comment that it has
never been this thorough in a project such as this. Reports have been provided
to the department and to the steering committee throughout the project. I get
advised on what those reports are saying and I get advised on what the steering
committee is saying. I have not been advised of a $900 million—is that
what the Leader of the Opposition said?—cost for the stadium. The
indicative cost for the stadium itself is $700 million.
