As part of Labor’s election policy plan for ‘Making our Community Safer’, it was stated ‘Labor will …establish an Office of Crime Prevention that is directly responsible to the Premier. Its main objective will be to develop the crime prevention strategy for Government as a whole and to be a leading driver in putting this strategy into practice.
The Office of Crime Prevention will
research and produce clear information for the general public as to how best to defend their homes, workplaces, and families. A priority will be to find solutions and strategies for those crimes that are usually directed towards older Western Australians, including home break-ins, assaults and bag-snatches’
-

(2) Why has the Office of Crime Prevention not published this on their internet site?

(2) - (3) The Strategy will be available on the Office of Crime Prevention website when it is released. (4) One element of the Strategy is the Burglar Beware Campaign which includes provision of a Burglar Beware Information Kit which is available on the Burglar Beware website at www.burglarbeware.wa.gov.au or through links from the Office of Crime Prevention website at www.crimeprevention.wa.gov.au Burglar Beware is having significant results with consistent decreases in the State’s burglary rate. In addition, advice on minimum security standards in rental properties is being distributed through the Real Estate Institute of WA Property Managers Chapter, the Tenants Advice Service and the Landlords Advice Service. An awareness raising campaign for tenants, landlords and managers is being developed in collaboration with each of these agencies. With regard to crimes against older Western Australians, the State Government has increased penalties for offences against seniors and other vulnerable people.
