INFRASTRUCTURE WESTERN
AUSTRALIA — ECONOMIC REFORM
228. Mrs L.M. HARVEY to the Premier:
Thank you, Premier. I have a supplementary
question.
Has Infrastructure Western Australia
been repurposed away from its strategy to work on actively seeking out projects
that can help stimulate the economy when we come out of the COVID-19; and, if
so, will the Premier undertake to table a list of those projects once IWA has
finished its deliberations?

As
I said, the role of Infrastructure Western Australia, as set out in the second
reading speech, is, for the first 18 months, to work out a state
infrastructure strategy. Obviously, that work has been disrupted to a degree
because of what has occurred. Our revenues will no doubt decline over time.
That will, no doubt, impact some of the things that we can do or plan to do.
Infrastructure Western Australia's role is not in the area of
attracting mining, gas or agricultural projects, or what have you. It is about
ensuring that we have an appropriate long-term plan worked out for investment
in state infrastructure—that is, infrastructure provided by the
government. That is a role that, no doubt, will restart at the end of this
period. In the interim, of course, I seek advice, counsel and help from anyone
who can provide that to us. The staff at Infrastructure Western Australia are
currently helping the COVID response because, obviously, that is the biggest
issue confronting us today.
