Response time
33 days
(1) Yes. Visitors and residents are advised to call 131 444 for police advice/attendance in non-emergency situations, and '000' for urgent police attendance or in life threatening emergencies. Western Australia Police publicises these numbers widely throughout the state. Emergency services contact numbers are indicated on all relevant Rottnest Island Authority signage, including within accommodation, on the Rottnest Island Authority website and the island visitor's guide.
(2) Western Australia Police advises that due to operational sensitivities, specific information relating to staffing levels of individual police stations is not released. Resources are allocated at a District level and District Superintendents deploy those resources within their District to deliver the best possible policing service to the community.
(3) Between 1 January 2009 and 31 December 2011, Rottnest Island Police responded to 306 urgent or serious tasks.
(4) The average response time is unable to be measured accurately and depends upon time of day, the location of the incident, etc.
