I refer to reports of a bushfire threatening Casuarina Prison on 12 November 2025, and I ask what bushfire preparedness measures are in place at the prison including: (a) risk assessment processes; (b) fuel load management; (c) firebreak maintenance; and (d) bushfire mitigation works undertaken in the past three years?

The Department of Justice advises:
a)    Departmental risk assessment tools are utilised and emergency management plans enacted as required.
b)    Fuel load management is undertaken to ensure compliance with City of Kwinana requirements.
c)    Firebreak maintenance is undertaken to ensure compliance with City of Kwinana requirements.
d)    Casuarina Prison undertakes regular mitigation works and conducts regular fire response exercises inclusive of multi-agency fire response with the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, Kwinana Volunteer Bushfire Brigade, St Johns Ambulance and Western Australian Police Force.
