AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of this question.
(1)–(2) A
directions statement for Aboriginal Education for 2015 will be released in the
new year. The statement will take cognisance of those items in the current ''Aboriginal
Education Plan for Western Australian Schools'', the broader
departmental directions outlined in ''Focus 2015'' and key
priorities identified by the Aboriginal Affairs Committee, the Aboriginal
Affairs Coordinating Committee Education Sub-Committee and the associated
Aboriginal reference group. The development of the new Aboriginal education
plan will occur throughout 2015 in order to align with the departmental
strategic plan time frame and to take into consideration those items contained
in the new national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education strategy to
be developed in mid-2015. Consultation and communications plans are currently
under development to identify key stakeholders including, but not limited to,
the Catholic and independent schooling sectors, the Aboriginal Affairs
Coordinating Committee, the Aboriginal Affairs Coordinating Committee Education
Sub-Committee, the associated Aboriginal reference group and the Western Australian
Aboriginal Education and Training Council.
