WHITEMAN PARK —
ZONING
775. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the minister representing the
Minister for Planning:
I refer to Whiteman Park.
(1) Can the
minister confirm that Whiteman Park, including the Marshall Road lands, is
reserved as parks and recreation under the metropolitan region scheme?
(2) Is the
government considering an amendment to the MRS to allow for the rezoning of
Whiteman Park as part of the proposed Morley–Ellenbrook railway line
and/or for any other purposes?
(3) If yes to
(2), what reservation changes are being proposed and what area or areas of Whiteman
Park are included?

AnswerView source ↗

(1) Yes.
(2)–(3) The
government has not made any decisions to amend the metropolitan region scheme
in relation to Whiteman Park. It should be noted that the previous government
was planning to locate a cemetery in the area, and the City of Swan was working
with the then government to develop a sporting complex in this region as well.
