Why is it necessary to go through the Attorney General to get and pay for the transcript of a case in the Broome Court of Petty Sessions in order to respond to a parent’s concerns? Hon PETER FOSS

I have been significantly extending the process by which people can get transcripts for free. Hon Mark Nevill: I have offered to pay in my letter. Hon PETER FOSS: There is no reason then why it should go through me. The only time the request of transcripts is referred to me is when people want them for free. It does not fall within the guidelines that I have established. Is Hon Mark Nevill a party? Hon Mark Nevill: The parent is a party. Hon PETER FOSS: The parents of parties are entitled to have the transcripts and the party is entitled to a copy of the transcript. There is no reason why the matter should be referred to me. The member should give me some detail as to what has happened. I do not know why it would be referred to me unless the parents are asking for the transcript to be free when the regulations do not provide for that. It would also be referred to me if a person who does not have an interest in the proceedings and, therefore, has no entitlement to it, requests a copy. The member should let me know and I will look into it.
