I draw the minister’s attention to the recent announcement by the Premier about the Government’s regional infrastructure fund. (1) Does this announcement mean the Government will no longer contemplate returning royalties to the region from which they were generated? (2) If so, will the minister advise the people of the north west that that is the Government’s position? Hon TOM STEPHENS

(1)-(2) The Government’s response to the requests of regional communities in the lead-up to the state election was to commit itself to a regional infrastructure fund.  That was in response to the issues, including those referred to by the Leader of the Opposition.  That fund is a pre-election commitment that I hope will soon be part of the State Government’s budgetary response to those communities.
