(2) Does the Water Corporation have to consult with communities when it plans to take water from a particular area to service the surrounding districts and regions? Hon KIM CHANCE

I thank Hon Robyn McSweeney for asking the question, even though I suspect she might be risking the ire of her neighbours in Bridgetown. Without fear or favour, Hon Robyn McSweeney! I am proud of the member. (1) The Water Corporation has applied for an extraction licence of 600 megalitres from the south west Yarragadee via a bore near Nannup to secure supplies to Bridgetown, Boyup Brook, Balingup, Greenbushes, Hester and Mullalyup. As per the regulatory requirements, the application will be publicly advertised in local newspapers this month. The Water Corporation’s project team has commenced consultation with relevant landowners in the Shire of Nannup, including negotiations to secure a bore site. Consultation with landowners and the community will continue as the planning progresses. Additionally, as part of the south west Yarragadee consultative process, a provision for up to two gigalitres for regional use was discussed with community members and stakeholders. (2) Not in all cases.
