On behalf of the Attorney General, I thank the honourable
member for some notice of the
question.
(1) The death has been reported to the State
Coroner and will be subject to a mandatory inquest. Reports are being prepared
for the coroner by the Western Australia Police and the Department of
Corrective Services. It is not until both of those reports have been delivered
to the coroner and a brief prepared that an inquest date can be scheduled.
(2) The Department of Correctives Services
advises that this matter is subject to a police investigation and it would be
inappropriate to comment on circumstances while this investigation is ongoing.
