BEELIAR WETLANDS —
ROE 8 — CLASS A RESERVE
458. Hon PETER COLLIER to
the Minister for Environment:
This
question without notice is asked on behalf of Hon Dr Steve Thomas, who is
away on urgent parliamentary business.
I refer to the government's
joint media release of 16 May 2020 from the minister and the Ministers for
Transport and Lands titled ''Election commitment delivered to save
Beeliar Wetlands'', which claims that the government had blocked the Roe
8 proposal by creating an A-class conservation reserve.
(1) Has the A-class reserve been created already, or is
this an announcement of the intention to create an A- class reserve?
(2) If the A-class reserve has not
yet been created, when will it be formally created?
(3) Under what
section of what specific legislative or regulatory instrument has the
government created or does the government intend to create the A-class reserve?
(4) Will the creation of the A-class
reserve be a disallowable instrument of Parliament?
(5) Has the
government abandoned action to progress its original plan to block Roe 8
through the Metropolitan Region Scheme
(Beeliar Wetlands) Bill 2018, which was introduced to the Legislative Assembly in November 2018 and the Legislative Council in September 2019?
