MT GIBSON IRON LTD
(1) Can the minister detail the fresh water requirements for the proposed Mt Gibson Iron Ltd iron ore mine, including the proposed magnetite slurry pipeline, and where this water will come from? (2) What is the current usage and recharge for the target aquifers? (3) Are any other proposed future iron ore mines also targeting these aquifers? The answers to questions (1) and (3) are as follows - (1) The Mt Gibson iron ore project has an approved water allocation of 5.5 gigalitres per annum from the Tathra field, which sources the Parmelia aquifer. (3) Yes.
