818. Hon Maryka Groenewald to the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to recent
studies from Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom showing increased
health complications for surrogate mothers compared to natural pregnancies.
(1) Does the Department of Health collect data
regarding health outcomes and complications for surrogate mothers during
pregnancy or postpartum?
(2) Does the department maintain a registry of
adverse health outcomes for surrogate mothers?
