SHARK DRUM
LINE PROGRAM
352. Hon RICK MAZZA to the
Minister for Fisheries:
In light of
reports in today's media that the diver who was missing off Dawesville
is likely to have been a victim of a shark attack, will the minister advise
whether the shark mitigation program is to be extended beyond the end of this
month and will include the Mandurah–Dawesville coast; and will the
program be accreted when recommenced next season?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
First of all, the body found at Dawesville is subject to
coronial inquiry and at this stage the cause of death is not known. In answer
to the member's second point about whether we will extend the shark
mitigation program, the answer is no; 30 April is the date it finishes and the
program will be reviewed for September this year.
