CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS ACT — REPORT —
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE
858. Hon KATE DOUST to the Minister for
Commerce:
I refer to the minister's tabling of addendum 4439 to the ''Response
of the Western Australian Government to the Report on the Operation and
Effectiveness of the Construction Contracts Act 2004 (WA)''.
(1) Can the minister please explain the
differences between tabled paper 4340 and addendum 4439, and why the addendum
was needed?
(2) Can the minister please clarify why the
original 16-page document has now been condensed to a far less substantial
nine-page response?
(3) Can the minister please identify which
of the two documents is the government's actual response to the ''Report
on the Operation and Effectiveness of the Construction Contracts Act 2004 (WA)''?

I thank the honourable member for
the question.
(1)–(3) The
report that was tabled initially was a draft that had not been fully settled.
The addendum is a more refined version of the document and it was tabled for
completion to indicate the final thinking on it.
Hon Kate Doust interjected.
The PRESIDENT : Order!
Hon MICHAEL MISCHIN : Otherwise, once I have the
opportunity to consider the question and go through the detail of the
comparisons, I will be able to give the honourable member more information
about how the two differ, but they do not differ in any material respect.
