TIER 3 RAIL LINES — BUSINESS CASES
877. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Transport:
Thank you, President; well
navigated.
I refer to my questions without
notice 194 of 22 March 2022, 241 of 23 March 2022, 667 of 16 August 2022 and
691 of 17 August 2022 in relation to the Quairading–York, Kulin via
Yilliminning to Narrogin, and Kondinin via Narembeen to West Merredin proposed
tier 3 lines.
(1) Are all three
business cases finalised?
(2) When will the
businesses cases for each of these proposed lines be made public?
(3) Which, if
any, of the business cases have been submitted to Infrastructure Australia, and
when were they submitted?
(4) Has the
minister approached the new federal Labor government for financial
contributions for these lines; and, if not, why not?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(4) An amount of $72 million has already been committed
towards the progressive recommissioning of the Narrogin–Kulin
line as part of round 1 of the joint state–commonwealth agricultural
supply chain improvements—ASCI—program.
Tier 3 lines continue to be evaluated for inclusion in future submissions to the commonwealth. The Minister for Transport continues to advocate for
further federal funding of ASCI projects and maintains close contact with the
commonwealth government.
